The Livewires

We like to play Indie mainly but we do like a change sometimes. We have played an extensive amount of gigs around the Deeside area including venues/pubs/clubs such as the Mcleans Pentre, The Melrose, The Hair and Hounds, The Beehive, The Potters Wheel, The Mercia, The Bridge Inn, The Queensferry Hotel, The Labour Club, Shotton Lane Social Club and the Bryn Griffis Social Club etc. We love to play to almost any crowd and are wishing in 2009 to play alot more gigs as we are becoming more and more restless with an urge to play our music. You can listen to our recorded trackes but if you come to a gig you may hear more of our own we just havent recorded them as of yet so yeah.  Review of 02/04/09 Courtesy of Academy images "Local band – The Livewires ( http://www.myspace.com/thelivewires ) were up next, with 6 tracks from their repertoire, Better Off Alone, Here To Help, a cover of the Smith’s Bigmouth Strikes Again, Dartin’ Eyes, a new track – We’re Not Sure concluding with Oasis’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Star. Their website sports a newspaper article that has a by-line stating “Indie rock youngsters show all the signs of developing into highly competent musicians”, well on this performance that prediction seem to have come to fruition. Easily the most accomplished instrumentalists on show this evening, some sublime guitar riffs from Jay Ratcliffe, a powerhouse performance from Rob Seery on drums topped off with a virtuoso performance on 5-string bass by Ashley Milner. If there was a prize for instrumentalist of the evening, this would have to go to ‘Ash’, without doubt the best bass I’ve heard in some time. These lads have definitely grown in musical stature since the last time I saw them – their busy local schedule is obviously offering them the opportunity to develop as a live act, an opportunity that they are obviously grasping with both hands. Well-done guys – awesome." Review of 15/01/09 Courtesy of Academy images "The closing act was Livewires, again from Deeside, comprising Jay Ratcliffe (lead / vocals), Ashley Milner (bass) and percussionist Rob Seery, provided a 10 track playlist, (Old Yellow Bricks, Better Off Alone, Always where I need you to be, Here to help, Start, We’re not sure, Rock ‘n’ roll star, Love’s like a disease, Are you gonna and How you’ll never) which grew on you as their set progressed. Without wishing to be repetitive, this group were again very accomplished instrumentally, I particularly enjoyed the mega bass riffs on Love’s like a disease, with Ashley’s relaxed deportment quite reminiscent of the great John Entwistle. I also thought I recognised The Edge’s influence on occasion during their set, whilst there was some quite inspiring drumming throughout. I really enjoyed their set, and look forward to hearing them again."
