Born and bread in Bolton, the members of Drama crawled out of their tiny bedrooms and took to the stage. Their bizarre and often humorous creations can be found in the form of rock songs, covering themes as varied as sex, space plagues, the ills of society and outright violence.

“There are no rules, no boundaries and above all else there is absolutely NO compromise.” says vocalist and guitarist Ian Gordon. “Drama songs are raw and primal, exploring the modern world with a cynical eye.”

The band’s eclectic back catalogue consists of over 50 tracks, emphasising their need to write and progress. From these tracks came the whacked-out-sex-and-violence-fest known as SEX LOVE LIES, Drama’s debut album.

Here it is lads!

The debut album from Bolton rock band Drama is available to buy on June 20th. "It's full of metaphors, social ranting and nonsensical banter." says lead singer Ian Gordon, "The album accurately conveys our love and hatred of modern society, and is achieved in a concise 38 minutes."

A successful meeting with illustrator Jen Collier in November 2008 led to the creation of the album art. "Jen took the themes from the album and fused them together. The finished product is simultaneously blatant and ambiguous - we love it!" In January/February 2009, the band underwent 8 days of solid recording: 2 days with Ben Bannister at HiToy Studios in Stockport, and a further 6 days with Manchester producer Paul Sadler. "We put the drum tracks down with Ben, and recorded the rest with Paul. Paul is a great producer, we were keen to work with him after hearing his work on Gone Til Winter's debut album."

Sex Love Lies is a social album, in which the band explore sexual taboos, failed love affairs and painful reflections. Though the themes are strong in nature, their distinctive brand of humour is prevalent: "In Bed With Machines is a fantasy involving a carburettor. It's pretty blatant really..."

Musically the band maintains an alternative rock sound, at times touching upon classic, synthetic and progressive rock. "We're inspired by music and much more. We write about what we see and what we experience. If a fat classic rock riff is necessary to accompany a thought then so be it."

Drama will be taking the album out on the road as they perform in and around the North West over the next few months. "We're branching out, and Sex Love Lies is coming with us. Hopefully the album will attract a few new faces to our shows."

The album will be on general sale at upcoming Drama gigs, so if you want a copy, check out the band's gig listings and come on down to a show!

Drama actually played our first ever gig at our venue The Crescent and we would like to say a big thank-you to them
